Recipe copyright law

In setting up the new site here I started posting some recipes to the Culinary journal area.  I started to become a bit paranoid about take down notices coming into my inbox by the truckloads.  I prompty did some research into the copyright laws surrounding recipes.  You can find a very good explanation here.

Basically, a listing of ingredients is fair game as is the description on how to combine them.  There is a grey area surrounding the description indicating that if the author used creativity or artistic expression in the directions then you may not copy the directions and post them verbatim.  I quickly went in and paraphrased my recipe directions thus making them completely legal.  As a practice I will start to post where I got the recipe in the first place to give the artist their due props.

Welcome to my new site that is hosted by squarespace.  I learned about this by listening to TWIT (thanks again Mr Mowery).  I am in the trial phase but I so far I really like what I see.  The trial is 14 days for free and 8 bux a month after.  I will surely be siging up after the trial.  Please comment and give me your thoughts.  Also, let me know via my old blogger hosted blog if you have any issues commenting.  Thanks for following me over once AGAIN!

Oh, and I have imported my old blog contents from blogger, it is located under the imported data area accessible in the top right.

Welcome to your new Squarespace site!  Below is a video that shows you how to get started using our system.

The three most important things to keep in mind:

• The buttons in the top right allow you to interact with your site in different ways.  For instance, the 'A' icon represents content mode, which lets you edit journal entries and other content.  The 'Cube' Icon represents structure mode, which lets you add and organize pages.  Each mode is explained if you hover on the icon.
  
  
• You can drag and drop anything on your site.  Want to move a page?  Enter structure mode and drag the page to a new location.  You can even drag pages between columns or from a column on to your top navigation bar.  Need to edit a journal entry?  Enter content mode and click 'Modify' on the entry you'd like to edit.
  
  
• Our styles are presets that you can make your own.  Entering style mode on the upper right will let you edit any color, width, column arrangement, or banner and more.  Most editing is done from the Fonts & Colors tab of the style edtior menu.

Want to remove this entry?  Enter content mode by pressing the 'A' on the upper right, then press 'remove' next to the title of this entry.
